A Fresh Look For Your Home

Have you been considering a home makeover? Or perhaps you’ve been thinking about how to increase your home’s value?

Vinyl siding could be the answer you’re looking for.

This blog post will guide you through everything you need to know about vinyl siding costs in Bowie, MD.

By this post’s end, you’ll understand why so many homeowners are choosing this option for their siding installation or replacement project. You’ll also be able to create a more accurate budget for your siding project.

Vinyl Siding Cost In Bowie, MD

On average, homeowners can predict to pay between $4.50 and $8.20 per square foot for installing vinyl siding. So for a 2,000-square-foot home, you may be investing around $15,000 to $25,000. The cost of vinyl siding can vary greatly depending on several factors.

Vinyl siding costs for a house in Bowie can range as follows:

  • Home (1500sf): $8,000 to $10,000
  • Home (2000sf): $15,000 to $25,000
  • Home (2800sf): $25,000 to $35,000

Cost Per Square For Vinyl Siding

When calculating the cost of siding, it’s essential to understand the terms used.

Vinyl siding is often sold by the “square,” which covers 100 square feet of exterior wall. The cost per square can range from $285 to $550, depending on the type and quality of the vinyl siding you select.

Why The National Vinyl Siding Cost Is Different Than In Bowie, MD

Local building codes and regulations in Bowie can also affect the cost.

For example, if local codes require certain types or grades of siding, this could increase the cost compared to areas with less stringent requirements.

Furthermore, the popularity of vinyl siding in Bowie could influence the cost. If vinyl siding is a popular choice among homeowners in the area, there may be more competition among suppliers and installers, which could help to drive down costs.

Conversely, if vinyl siding is less common, you might find fewer options and higher prices.

Factors Affecting The Cost of Vinyl Siding

Size Of The House

The size of your house plays a significant role in the vinyl siding prices. Larger homes require more materials, which increases the overall cost.

For instance, a 1,500-square-foot dwelling may require around 15 squares of vinyl siding, while a 3,000-square-foot home may need double that number.

However, contractors often offer discounts for larger projects, as they can purchase materials in bulk and optimize their labor. So, while the total cost for a larger home will be higher, the cost per square foot may be lower.

Quality Of The Vinyl

The quality of the vinyl siding you choose can greatly affect vinyl siding costs.

Higher-quality siding is often thicker and more durable, providing better insulation and lasting longer. For example, premium vinyl siding can be twice as thick as economy-grade siding, making it more resistant to weather damage and fading.

However, this increased durability comes at a cost, with high-quality vinyl siding often costing significantly more than lower-quality alternatives.

Labor Costs

Labor costs can significantly impact the total cost of your vinyl siding project.

These costs can vary depending on the complexity of the job and local labor rates. For instance, if your home has a lot of corners, angles, or architectural features, the installation will be more complex, and labor costs will be higher.

Additionally, labor costs can vary by region. In areas with a high cost of living, labor rates are typically higher.

Removal Of Existing Siding

If your home already has siding needing removal, this can add to the overall cost of your project.

The process of removing old siding can be labor-intensive, requiring additional time and effort from the installation crew.

The cost for this can be from $1,000 to $2,667, depending on your home size and the type of siding being removed.

Repairs Before Installation

If your home needs repairs before the new siding can be installed, this will cause a price hike.

For instance, if the underlying structure of your home has moisture or pest damage, these issues will need to be looked into before new siding installation.

The cost of repairs for siding damages such as these can range from $2 to $4 per square foot, depending on the damage’s extent.

The brand of vinyl siding you choose can also impact the cost.

More reputable brands often offer higher-quality materials and may also offer better warranties. For example, CertainTeed and James Hardie are well-known brands that are often associated with high-quality products.

However, these brands may cost more than lesser-known brands.

“Alside, CertainTeed, and Hardie siding. Alside and CertainTeed offer premium vinyl siding in a number of profiles and a wide range of colors. James Hardie is the best fiber cement siding material available with many options for the customer to choose from, such as cedar planks, smooth planks, and shake siding.”

Siding Style

The style of siding you choose can also affect the cost.

More elaborate styles, such as scalloped or shingle-style siding, may be more expensive than traditional lap siding. More decorative styles, such as vinyl log siding, will increase the cost as it costs more to produce.

Vertical siding has a more challenging installation process as opposed to horizontal.

Geographic Location

The cost of vinyl siding can also vary by location due to differences in labor costs and the cost of materials.

For instance, in places where the cost of living is high, both labor and materials may be more costly. Additionally, in areas where vinyl siding is more popular, you may find more competitive pricing due to a larger number of suppliers and installers.

Who You Hire

The cost of installing vinyl siding can vary greatly depending on who you hire.

If you’re a DIY-handy homeowner and choose to attempt it yourself, you’ll save on labor costs but will need to instead invest time and effort. You’ll also have to rent or purchase the tools and equipment you need.

If you hire a cheaper contractor, you may save money upfront, but there could be hidden costs. For example, if the contractor does shoddy work, you may need to pay another one for repairs or replacements. Additionally, cheaper contractors may not be licensed or insured, which could leave you liable for any accidents or damage that occur during the project.

Hiring a high-end contractor will likely cost more upfront, but you’ll be paying for their expertise and high-quality work. These contractors are typically licensed and insured, and they may offer warranties on their work. This can give you more peace of mind and save you money over time if any issues arise.

Types Of Vinyl Siding

  • Clapboard: This traditional style of siding is also known as “lap” or “bevel” siding. It’s designed to look like wooden boards and is the most common type of vinyl siding.
  • Dutch Lap: This style is similar to clapboard but has a decorative groove at the top of each board, giving it a more distinct look.
  • Beaded Seam: This style features a bead at the bottom of each “board” that creates a shadow line, giving the siding a more detailed appearance.
  • Board and Batten: This style, also known as “barn siding,” features alternating wide and narrow vertical panels.
  • Shake and Shingle: This style mimics the look of cedar shake siding and is often used as an accent on the part of a home.
  • Scallop: Also known as “fish scale,” this style features rounded panels and is often used on Victorian-style homes.
  • Insulated Vinyl Siding: Insulated siding comes with built-in insulation, adding an extra layer of protection and energy efficiency to your home.

How To Lower Your Vinyl Siding Cost

There are several ways to save money on your vinyl siding project.

These include choosing a thinner grade of siding or scheduling your installation during the off-season.

You can also save on labor costs by removing your old siding yourself if you’re comfortable doing so.

  • Can Fade: Over time, vinyl siding can fade due to sun exposure.
  • Not as Eco-Friendly: Vinyl siding is not biodegradable and can be difficult to recycle.
  • Can Crack in Extreme Cold: In extremely cold temperatures, vinyl siding can become brittle and crack.
  • Can Melt in Extreme Heat: If exposed to a high heat source, such as a grill, vinyl siding can warp or melt.
  • Lower Resale Value: Homes with vinyl siding may have a lower resale value compared to homes with brick or wood siding.

Is New House Siding A Good Investment?

Absolutely! Replacing your house siding can yield up to an 80% rate of return on your investment when you sell your home.

Not only does it increase your home’s curb appeal, but high-quality siding types like vinyl can also increase your home’s value.

How To Estimate Vinyl Siding Costs By Home Square Footage

To estimate the cost of siding, you’ll need to work out the square footage of your exterior.

You do this by measuring the height and width of each wall and multiplying those figures together. Then, combine the square footage of each to get the complete square footage. Divide this number by 100 to calculate the number of squares of vinyl siding you’ll need.

Vinyl Siding And Weather

When selecting the siding type for your home, it’s important to look at the weather elements occurring in your area.

Vinyl siding is a great choice for many climates as it’s resistant to heat, cold, and moisture. People living in places with intense weather conditions may want to consider other choices in siding.

Hiring A Siding Contractor

Hiring a professional vinyl siding contractor can ensure your siding is installed correctly and efficiently. Licensed, bonded, and insured siding contractors can provide peace of mind and may also offer a warranty on their work.

Be sure to check with your local authority about contractor requirements and what the warranty for the siding materials entails.

Recently we hired Integrity Pro to design and complete a combination bathroom and Laundry room in our basement. We knew for quite sometime this would be a big time consuming job. We actually interview at least 6 other construction companies. We found out that a lot of plumbers were not interested in the construction aspects of this type of work. We found out that anyone offering to do this for 7-8 thousand dollars was not trustworthy.More than once we were ready to pull the trigger only to walk back from the ledge for different reasons. The first thing that stood out on the Integrity estimate was that big fat liability policy that was part of the estimate proposal. As a retired Casualty Insurance Professional this was definitely a determining factor. The other was the fixture allowance. But it did take 2-3 conversations to lead to the big hand shake. Then the next “feel good” factor was Alberto the lead carpenter. He came in on a Saturday after the plumber because he needed to get a jump on things. He worked every Saturday until finished. We saw Mike the Project Manager like 4 times. Very reassuring. The door to the laundry room needed some creative thinking. Once again great results. For us this was a once in a life time project, we had much to loose if done incorrectly, but much to gain when done right. That is where we are, on the plus side. Well done.Anthony Bynum

This company is very responsive. Not only did Danny (owner) listen to our concerns, but he heard our concerns. Many days, I was leaving as the workers arrived. Danny would leave post it notes to ensure the contractors addressed any concerns from the day before. The contractors are very respectful of our home. They cleaned up every afternoon so as not to leave our house in disarray. My fireplace turned out beautifully. My bathroom doors were moved and the new locking barn darns turned out beautifully. Danny is having a custom threshold designed to make the transition between too rooms seamless. Danny took a load barring wall down to open up the kitchen and the back room. Danny ensured the openings to these rooms were at least 36 inches. Ensuring the house is ADA accessible was very important to me.

Our project coordinator on site was Alberto. He was so fastidious, and was so committed to making the job look fantastic at the end. He even came back after he realized he forgot to put some thing on our final cabinet installation even thought he was in his truck, on his way out. He was just so excellent and we can’t have asked for a better project result.

My wife and I reached out to Integrity Home Pro for a quote to repair/replace wood under our bay windows that started rotting years ago. Within a few days, we had an estimate with several different options, and reasonable price set for the work done, as well as an estimate for how long the work would take.Within 3 weeks, Integrity Home Pro sent out their team to replace our rotted wood with panels and had finished the work within the time originally estimated. We're so happy with the work they've done, that we will certainly be reaching out again for more work on our home.Long and short: Integrity Home Pro has shown us professional courtesy, impressive workmanship, and genuine care for our needs. The quality of service is a rarity, and we plan on reaching out to Integrity again in the near future.Photos provided to show the before and after

Integrity Home Pro was a pleasure to work with. I had extensive hail damage to my house and the process of getting information to my insurance and approval for a full replacement was a long process. Ben at Integrity was very patient and extremely helpful every step of the way. He assisted with everything the insurance needed so that now I have a new roof and siding. The installers were outstanding and when they were finished you could not see any debris on the lawn or damage to any bushes. I used Integrity about 10 years ago for the previous roof that the hail damaged ( I thought they were terrific then) and I think they only have improved with time. I highly recommend them!

Integrity Home Pro were very pleasant and easy to work with when our roof was damaged by a tree branch. They replaced my roof quickly in the morning. Also, I am a returning customer knowing they did a great job replacing my roof 20 years ago.

Integrity Home-Pro just completed remolding our kitchen. The process took two weeks. Elmer Lopez did the work. He worked non-stop everyday; his workmanship is premium. Tera Ingwersen guided us through the process from the office on a regular basis and was always available to answer questions. Integrity's quote for the work was significantly less than a quote given by another company. Integrity's owner, Danny Peterson, personally came when we called about getting a quote. He followed up on two occasions as the work was being done. Integrity Home Pro has done other major projects on our home and we have been pleased each time.
